BACKGROUND

Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS) and Indian Society of Geomatics (ISG), two premier professional bodies join together every year to organize a national symposium on relevant themes.

This year, ISRS and ISG are jointly conducting its Symposium in collaboration with the Remote Sensing Applications Centre-UP and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow to bring geospatial companies, regional industry and large-scale user organizations on board. This year’s theme “Remote Sensing for Sustainable future: A Roadmap Towards Viksit Bharat” is selected after recognizing the importance of technology and its applications in future for the development of Bharat. Currently, the set of tools and methodologies, combining the satellite data with the design and use of models, are facilitating, enriching and supporting decision-making. Digital intelligence is paving the transition from sources of data to the creating of social or economic value. At present, digital intelligence is playing a vital link in connecting the geospatial technologies that generate data and true value creation for organizations.

The purpose of the symposium is to provide an excellent platform and opportunity for Remote Sensing and GIS professionals, Earth-observation service sector companies, policy-makers, entrepreneurs, researchers and students to exchange their research ideas and knowledge base, discuss the benefits for society and public/private sector interactions, formulation and implementation of policies and discuss/debate on emerging issues and challenges.
